Around the time I got the D300, I had replaced nearly all my AF lenses with AF-S. I only saved the 50mm AF and 28mm AF. I just don't think there are a lot of people out there who have moved to mirrorless who are attached to AF lenses enough that they are begging for an FTZ with built in motor. Yes a 800mm f5.6 + TC is doable. Actually, I was wondering about getting to 800mm f/5.6 by using the 2x TC on the upcoming 400mm f/2.8. In other words, put a 2x TC on and not use the internal 1.4x.
