When I was looking at planters last summer, the JD planter shop suggested that the 1780 for my application would not be the wisest of choices. Just my 2 cents, the 1780 is not my favorite bar, when folded it is heavy on the draw bar, when turning on the ends the planter will pick up the weight on the draw bar making it difficult to make turns, will take front wheel assit to pull.
