Well, here is the box I designed and built that allows for full midgate functionality. It is permanately installed and does not have to be removed to use the midgate. Removal would require unbolting the rear seat and lifting it up to get it out, "good theft prevention." I used a JL Audio 8" subwoofer, I believe it is a 8W0 model, 4 ohm.

I can still put the glass in the midgate but I can not let the midgate al the way down unless I remove the box. The sound is great from this box.
