I have a smith and wesson model 19-3 with a 4 inch barrel. The serial number is 2k67041 and is nickel plated. I would like to when it was manufactured and how many were produced. Hate to say it but, you will find that the box is not original to that gun. Check for a serial number under the bottom section, written in white pen. That box is for a 7XXXX or higher.

Other stampings are assembly numbers used to keep fitted parts together through the finishing process or inspectors stamps. Your revolver shipped from the factory in 1975.
Either way, it looks as if you model 19 was produced between 1970-72. The model 19 is a blued or nickled 6 shot K frame chambered in .357 Magnum. The most common configurations for 38special or 357 magnums are the 5 shot J frame, 6 shot K frame, 6 or 7 shot L frame and the 6 or 8 shot N frame. Please post pictures.Model 19 Serial Number. Those are as close as I can find records of known shipping dates.Your serial number range is 1973- 1974. The 2 inch model 10 was made in a square grip and a round grip.
