Free Archetype does open up the opportunities a bit. But by level 10 you have your normal reaction, a dedicated shield block reaction, and a dedicated AoO reaction. Overall, though, I think rogue is the best multiclass for increasing thaumaturge DPR, followed closely by monk.

The class is balanced around 1h weapons. Implement's empowerment basically gives you 2h weapon damage with a 1h weapon. The action economy nightmare is just part of it...you outright lose damage by going this route. If you want a 2h weapon, don't be a thaumaturge.
