Steam Deck Users - Avoid this game. Go to Properties, Compatibility, and force proton experimental to get the cutscenes to play instead of a black screen. Edit: No controller support so the stagecoach won't move. Edit 2: User made controls for Steam Deck work if downloaded. Not the best but at least you can play.

Manual installation IS much more stable than the workshop. I've noticed that often times users do not get the latest version of a file through the workshop, and I now tell all players to use the manual install when possible. I bought Darkest Dungeon 2 the other day because I saw it was verified now. Installed and loaded it up and it ran fine. I got to the first intro fight, made a few choices and it just froze. So I closed out the game and loaded it back up, it loaded up to the exact spot it froze at. Went back to playing and it froze again.I renamed that folder and was still able to load my saved game, so it is somewhere else. If anyone knows the actual save file location, I'd appreciate it. Try C:\Users\Public\Public Documents\Steam (random numbers, i forgot) and check all folders if there are folders like profile_0, 1, 2, etc there, that's it.
