I'm having some trouble finding a good, solid, basic, 2 handed weapon build. Ideally I'd go with a Paladin? I love the greatsword paladin as an archetype, but otherwise fighter works too. Or I guess any melee class that can off-tank. I'm not interested in cipher or chanter though. It's just that every build I find is sword and shield or dual ... Since in solo you will fight in encounters balanced for big parties. So ability to run faster is highly useful for both melee and ranged build. Can be good idea to get coil of resourcefulness and quick switch as arquebuss in second slot can be very useful for FoD damage maximization. Might even worth to go as aumaua for three slots. As a rule of thumb, X/Paladin is a good bet. Rogue/Paladin and Chanter/Paladin are probably the two most popular combinations. As Boeroer says, though, not clear there is any “best” solo build. Paladins can be plenty tanky with their faith passive which also adds rp flavor because you need to stick to your ideals in order to maintain that passive. Heavy armor, sword and a big shield are all plenty viable. Paladins also get some support auras along with a bit of healing so you can help your team out too.
