I've do a section of our unmaintained community road and my driveway with loader and bucket, without the bucket, and without the loader and bucket. I also have the QH15, so quite a bit of weight. The elevation is around 4000-4500 ft.

I've got an L3010 that I'm guessing is similar in size and weight. It usually has the FEL and rotary cutter on it. I tow it with a 7'x18' trailer. Reverse was low range only. The newer L3901 has 8 forward and 8 reverse gears. In this tractor size (chassis and HP) HST makes more sense, with ease of use for beginners and common use of tractors that size, also most gear drives in this size don't have synchronizers in forward and reverse or even between gears.The 2501/HST would be a strong contender because of the lower price versus the value gotten with minus 8 horsepower vs the 3301. Same loader on all. HST has a live PTO while the gear drive doesn't.
