And I don’t think that’s what the author intended. They intended to make NPCs look better but still have the rustic feel of Skyrim, however rather or not they achieved that is ultimately up to you.

In my opinion, WICO is the only mod that significantly improves on the vanilla NPCs without making everyone look too pretty. PSA: If you are using WICO, you can't complete certain quests (Fix inside) So apparently WICO's creator disappeared 2 years ago and left us with a bug where you can't kill certain NPCs. This makes certain quests where people are suppose to die completely broken. Took me awhile to figure out the cause but I finally found this .

I would also personally argue that Total Character Makeover is significantly out-classed.Make sure your load order is correct. If using both mods, SoS should be loaded after WICO. This will let SoS overwrite the body mesh while not touching things WICO doesn't touch. I can't speak to all the versions, but the USSEP compatibility patch from the vanilla body version of WICO copies all of the ACBS sections of every NPC it touches from the USSEP. The only NPCs that are flagged Protected or Essential who are not that way in vanilla Skyrim are ones that the USSEP makes protected or essential. It gets rid of the stuff that prevents those two mods in question without compromising WICO's actual purpose. If all NPCs have pale skin (even those that in vanilla have dark skin) then that's definitely a bug.
