My M2 20 was actually worse than the Franchi 20 in the stiff loading department. The shell catch has to be bent (which Benelli customer service did, along with lightening the trigger). The Affinity is built by Benelli in the same plant. Looks and feels a bit like the Benelli M2, but the recoil spring is in the forearm and not the stock. The 2 brands I’ve narrowed it down to are Franchi affinity 3 or the Retay Masai Mara. This will be an all purpose hunting shotgun. TIA!Best UNDER $1,000 Inertia Pick: The Franchi Affinity 3 . I have not had nearly as much as experience with this gun but I was honestly blown away. A lot of viewers seemed to really enjoy this gun as well. I was shooting the Waterfowl Elite edition but the plain camo version operates the same and still comes in under $1,000. Overall great gun.

The franchi is the 3 inch less fancy version of the benelli. Benelli sbe2 will shoot 3.5 inch ao if you want to shoot those go with the benelli. I'm personally a super black eagle fan boy so if you have the money I'd recommend that. But in all honesty they're both great guns that run on the same inertia operating system.The primary difference was that the M2 recoil spring is in the butt stock whereas the Franchi has the recoil spring located around the mag tube, like most other brands do. The Franchi is for sure the superior gun between the two and the price tag reflects that. Franchi is made side-by-side with Benelli in Italy. Stoeger does have the exact same Inertia-Driven recoil system that both the Benelli and Franchi has, but at a much cheaper price point. The only advantage to the M2 seems to be the comfortech stock resulting in less recoil.
