Mar 9, 2024. #5. That is an IH built 782. The patent decal and the lack of front frame holes proves this. Originally that would have been a KT17 series 1, which isn't worth messing with. I would at minimum swap a Magnum 18 or Command 18-up in it. That is worth $300-$400 all day every day including Sunday!

I read where you need to remove the differential cover....and that the fluid is so thick it takes hours to refill. I bought the Cub Cadet HiTran fluid from one of the sponsors here. It is like ATF fluid and not thick at all.

I would be seeking a much better Carter/Kohler fully adjustable unit. Those carb parts I listed are for the Carter/Kohler style carb. The throttle lever has little movement before the linkage goes full open to full closed. The reason for this is by the time you purchase the pieces individually for the regular Brinly hitch you will have around half the cost of a new CAT O or close to the cost of a good used CAT O three point. The rods were "spray lubed" from pressurized oil on the Series 1s, which were in all IH built 682/782s and all MTD built 682/782s up through early 1984. The red 82 series were only made into 1985, so it would be relatively rare to find a factory Series II in a red cub cadet.
