I do know that the 9N/2N/8N all used the PTO to drive the hydraulic pump and that the 9N/2N only had draft control and 3 speed transmissions. With the 8N they added a 4th forward gear and position control. The biggest thing I found was that the draft position lever was out of adjustment (about 50% off). Adjusted per the I&T manual. There are two adjustment to make, one with the lever down in draft control position and another with the lever up in position control. While the lift top is off it's best to replace the lift piston o-ring, remove and clean the control valve and check the cam pin for wear.
