Brand new ball joints (uppers and lowers), as well as new u joints on driver and passenger side. Also note that the driver side received a new axel shaft.3RD Generation Dodge Ram - 2002 to 2008. Dodge Mechanic: sprinkles08. Slide under the front of the truck and find the right front axle u joint. It's in the opening at the end of the axle tube behind the steering knuckle. Feel the joint by hand to see if it's loose. There should be no play in the joint.oemwheelguy. Clicking could indicate a wheel warranty problem and should be taken to the dealer for replacement. However, in many cases it is not the wheel, but the center cap. First thing I would do is try removing the caps and see if the clicking disappears. If so, re-install the caps and use some lubricant on them.

Very good. If the front shock bushings are completely worn out, I can see that causing the clicking. You may want to pull the old shocks off and go for a test drive to see if the clicking stops. Next things I would look at would be the front axle u joints and wheel bearings.

On my 2001 Dodge Ram 1500 5.2 2WD, I just found. This is a very simple job to do. Raise the front of truck off the ground,block the rear tires. Using pliers and a hammer,remove the grease cap from hub. Remove the cotter key and nut from axle,pull out slowly and remove outer bearing. then remove hub from axle.
