ARs are much lighter and minimum 16" barrel makes more sense for 5.56 caliber, but the Galil will also treat you well with acceptable accuracy and velocity from a 13" CHF barrel. It'll just be heavy as fuck compared to an AR. With this being said, a Galil in 5.56 seems like more of a novelty if you already have an AR rifle.
