Thanks for contacting us. I understand that you need the data limit on your network extenders. I don't see that the 3G network extenders were shutdown early. We do have some 4G basic phones available. Have you looked into these? They won't use as much data as the smartphones. *Debbie

The network extender will not work with the USB modem. The primary purpose of the extender is for use in weak cell phone signal areas that are served by wired/fiber DSL or Broadband connections - the cell phone signal is transmitted to you (Network extender) via a broadband connection. The skimpy antenna is useless if you have an outside weak cell signal and no wired broadband...Thanks for explaining my A51 won't work with my old existing 3G network extender. When the Network Extender is running, my phone uses 3G for data. I expect to see an LTE Network Extender about when I see WiFi calling from Verizon.
The reason your phone is not acknowledging that it is receiving a 3G signal is because the network extender does not transmit 3G signals. It only transmits the following signals: Air Interface: CDMA2000 1x Rel.0 CDMA2000 EvDO Rev 0/A . This is spelled out in the technical specs for the network extender.

The 3G network extender works fine but the 4G one is not able to connect to the Verizon network through the hotspot. It does connect through the DSL , but it is slow and the voice quality can be choppy for the same reason. There is no technical reason for this not to work. I bet if I tunneled the traffic through a VPN , it would work.You may have to use the My Verizon website logging in as the account owner to manage it by going to My Plan & Services->My Plan. Are you able to make calls, e.g. does #48 say 'under network extender coverage'? If not, you might have to call 800-922-0204 or *611 to have them activate the MAC ID of your extender.

Likely the previous owner or store put it on an account and that old account is still active. Verizon uses this in part as a wedge to force people in rural/remote areas to use postpay service.But then she could not save the entries and sought more help.
