The extra upgrades aren't huge, but the only reason I know of to stay in the first stage is to try for a Golden Cookie/Elder Frenzy combo. As the other comments say, drop Skruuia, except when you pop the wrinklers. Mokalsium, Holobore, Jeremy, and Rigidel are all good idle choices. r/CookieClicker.
