The BFH is an advantage for those who shoot ALOT regularly, regularly logging many thousands of rounds per year in training, competition, etc. Guns that get heavy use, machine guns, etc. For the average shooter who puts 1k-3k a year through his AR it's not a big concern. Both my BCM's are standard barrels and I'm not concerned about it at all.Yes, BCM is worth the extra price. That being said, for simple range use, my two PSA's have been just as reliable as the BCM's. If the gun will ever see any "serious" use (like self defense, being a "go-to" rifle, etc.) then I would spend the extra for the BCM.

Aside from appearances, it may resist corrosion better, but a good coating will also prevent corrosion because its a barrier between the steel and air. -4.BCM barrels are proof loaded and then MPI (Magnetic Particle Inspected) to detect any possible flaws in the barrels surface. The barrels are MP inspected with both circular and longitudinal magnetic fields per ASTME1444-01 (current Mil-Spec) to assure a high quality finished product. All BCM barrels are marked HP MP as our proof load marking.Both are going to last a long time. Worth noting that some people with both say the BFH version shoots better. I researched the same thing a while back. Not sure how credible it is, but seems it's just the better barrel between those two particular barrels. I have a BFH but never had a standard so can't compare.
