I replaced the rear-main seal/timing cover oil pan gasket on a WD 45 226 engine not to long ago. Did the job on the engine stand. what I did was pull the main caps and raise the rotating assembly as a unit so I could get to that half of the rear seal.

Every time there was a HP increase, it was done by raising the compression ratio, using higher octane fuel, increasing RPM's or a larger carburater. The largest cubic inch displacement was 226.
