What is ACT? Advanced Combat Tracker (ACT for short), is a "parsing" program. More techinically speaking, it reads the numbers flying back and forth between the game and the server, then stores and analyzes (parses) this data for you. Not a program made just for FFXIV, ACT may be used with many MMOs for many reasons.The first thing to check is to see if your game in question is actually writing to a log file. If ACT's title bar does not say "Log Active" in it, you may have the wrong log file opened or the game is not actually writing to that (or any) file. Make sure that you have a parsing plugin enabled for your specific game and no other parsing plugins ...The same thing happened to the Updater window last ACT version. Seems like a Visual Studio bug that randomly detaches event-handlers when you open the window in the designer. The work around is to close the window the same way you opened it. I installed ACT today, and everything looks to be working fine except for one major problem, there is no overlay. Am I missing something? I followed all the instructions I could find but I cannot get the overlay to show up in ffxiv. When I click the "show ffxiv overlay" button nothing happens.
